If ever there was a time for you to be freaking out about your lack of gift giving ability, that time would be now. There are only 5 days until Christmas and it’s inevitable that you get your last purchases in before it’s too late and you end up re-gifting that ugly (now moth-eaten) sweater that you got from your Aunt several years ago.
Below are some of my top gift picks for the gamers on your list. And if you have any suggestions for presents, feel free to leave them in the comments.

1. Dress like Nathan Drake
To actually look like like the Uncharted protagonist would cost thousands of pounds worth of plastic surgery procedures (especially me, I’m a girl) but at least you can get one step closer to having his swag by dressing just like him. Jeans and any long sleeve t-shirt would do but this accessory (which Drake dons in Uncharted 3) is key.
Even better, is the fact that Amazon.com are selling it for under $2 (click the image to order and read product details).
2. Convert an Xbox Fanboy
With games like the aforementioned Uncharted, the Resistance series and upcoming title, The Last of Us, all being PS3 exclusives, it makes sense that people will want to jump the Microsoft ship and swim to the Sony shore, however, if you’ve spent so long playing Xbox that the PS3’s dualshocks feel odd, I have a solution for you. The Pro Elite Wireless Controller for PS3 is a PS3 controller in an Xbox 360 controller’s skin so it’s perfect if you know someone who is getting a PS3 for Christmas.
Amazon $19.99 (click the image to order and read product details).
3. Become an Assassin*
This next gift may not actually give you the perks of being an assassin, but what it does give you is some serious gamer street cred. If you’ve played the Assassin’s Creed games, you know that they are centred around the sinister Templar-owned Abstergo Industries and even though they are the bad guys, who wouldn’t want to dress like them? The company’s logo is wicked cool! The Ubisoft Workshop has got Abstergo hoodies, t-shirts (see below) belts and even badges. Also, right now they are being sold with a 15% discount.
This shirt is $17.00. Click here to see all of the Abstergo clothing.
4. Everyone loves Sackboy!
It’s hard not to love the cutesy star of the PS3 exclusive, Little Big Planet. The adorable hessian explorer (or is he technically an astronaut?) dresses up in ridiculous outfits : sombreros, Chinese dancing dragon heads and even wearing a whole turkey on his noggin at one time and he still manages to pull every single one off. If they were real I’m sure they’d give great fashion advice but alas the closest we can get to that reality is Sackboy plushies. They’re just as ‘aww’-inducing as the virtual thing and if you’re significant other asks, they’re not ‘toys’ they’re ‘collectibles’.
Buy Sackboy & Sackgirl – $17.99 for both from Amazon (click the image to order and see product details).
5. Have a Gaming/Movie Night
If your other half has stuck with you despite their dismay at your purchase of those Sack-people, then I have another great gift. No gamer’s movie night would be complete without the ultimate in gaming-related films (which is actually the only one I can think of that does gaming justice), Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. The film follows awkward teen, Scott (played by Michael Cera, who does ‘awkward’ best) as he falls for Ramona, a girl who has almost as many hair colours as she has exes. Scott has to fight all 7 of her evil exes in classic, arcade-like boss battles to win her over. It’s funny, witty, has more gaming references that you can shake a stick at and most importantly, it makes for a perfect gift.
The Blu-ray version of Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is $9.97 from Amazon. (click the image to order and see product details).
6. Update your iPod
Apparently these Apple iPod things are becoming rather popular so I suppose it’s inevitable that you fill up your iTunes library with the best, most eargasmic tunes that money can buy. My pick for you is the official Batman Arkham City soundtrack, featuring tracks by pop/rockers Panic! At The Disco, as well as Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and Daughtry. Even if you haven’t played the game, this is still an excellent (and very cheap) little album to tap your foot to.
The CD is $3.49 from Amazon (click the picture to order and see product details).
