Assassin’s Creed 3 : All of the Need to Know Facts

Assassin's Creed 3 PS3 Box Art

It’s confirmed. Ubisoft have announced that Assassin’s Creed 3 is on its way.

Are you excited? You should be. This is the ‘true’ sequel that we’ve been waiting for since we completed, and enjoyed the hell out of AC2.

We’ll miss Ezio Auditore’s special, Italian blend of killing, we’ll miss his impressive facial hair and his way with the ladies but it’s time to let the Mediterranean master go to bring in a bigger, better, possibly even more familiar setting for some of you : Assassin’s Creed 3 is headed to America.

After the break is all the important, need to know stuff about the game – feel free leave a comment afterwards detailing your excitement  or your disappointment.

Where Will Assassin’s Creed 3 be set?

Judging by the glaringly obvious setting depicted in the official Ubi-released packshot for the game and the promo material (picture seen below) that was leaked by an employee of Best Buy, the tech retailer, we’re led to assume that Assassin’s Creed 3 will be set in America. More specifically, during the War of Independence (1775–1783) that raged on between the American and British forces, the former demanding to be set free (presumably) from the ruling of our tea-drinking, fish-&-chip eating ways.

What Will You be Able to do in Assassin’s Creed 3?

If the new character featured in the packshot is anything to go by, we’ll again be murdering people like its going out of fashion (well, duh) but this time around I could see us potentially getting to wield the incredibly powerful murder tools that are guns (take another look at the right of the leaked promo image), of course, though in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood and Revelations, we were confined to the use of the hidden gun that was quite literally up our sleeve and there were plenty of rifle-toting guards whose weapons we never got to use. And during the War of Independence, these things were relatively common – along with tomahawks, apparently (again see the packshot – left hand of the protagonist).

Also, keen not to offend (and this bit’s purely my own speculation) Ubisoft will really push the focus on Templar-stabbing as opposed to picking a side (the Americans or the British) to support – no doubt the Templars will be taking the revolution as a prime opportunity to take advantage of the populous, and it’ll be our, rather entertaining job, to stop them.

What Will Assassin’s Creed 3 Look Like?

Unfortunately, official screenshots have yet to be released from the game though if you sign up to the JSX newsletter, I promise to keep you updated on when they’re out.

(Though chances are, AC3 will be the most dangerous of all, possibly taking you to the War of Independence battlefields, which will be at the heart of the chaos.)

What is the Assassin’s Creed 3 Release Date?

No word from Ubisoft on this tidbit of information *yet*, of course I’ll keep you updated when they do (signed up to the JSX newsletter yet?) – but for now, the logical answer would be Autumn, to get in those pre-Christmas sales as per, though the guys over at Official PlayStation Magazine have penned it down for a 30th of October release date.

So there you have it! That’s everything you need to know right now, but in the meantime, I strongly recommend that you sign-up to the JSX newsletter to get all of the latest Assassin’s Creed 3 news delivered to your inbox as soon as it’s released.
