It appears that the HMV website has confirmed the GTA 5 release date.
Developer of the Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar Games, have yet to *officially* confirm the release date but with HMV’s retailing rival Zavvi stating on their website that Rockstar have yet to tell them the release date (opting instead to use a placeholder) and HMV making a point not do either, it’s likely that this is the GTA 5 release date and someone on the HMV website staff has made a huge error.

As you can see, next to ‘release date’, it says that the game will be released on the 5th of April, 2013.
Not only is this entirely likely (given that the last game in the Grand Theft Auto series, GTA 4, was released in April too) and that the closest big-budget game to GTA 5’s supposed release date would be Tomb Raider (released in early March), GTA 5 would have almost nothing to stop it from becoming the best-selling game of next year.
