Just what will NBA 2K14 bring when 2K’s premier meatball sim arrives on next-generation consoles? Squeakier bounces when the ball hits the deck? More defined muscles? Better hair physics to give Houston Rockets baller James Harden a real chance to showcase his impressive beard?
The answer to all of these is mostly a mystery, but NBA 2K14 will absolutely have to do more to prove itself on PS4 and Xbox One simply for the fact that people will have had the chance to pick up a copy on PS3 and Xbox 360 nearly an entire month before (it’s out today on those consoles). Thankfully, down to the video whizzes at 2K, we now have a slightly better idea, if not a complete one, of what NBA 2K14 will look like on our flashy new game boxes, as they’ve put together a TV spot to promote the game, which we might well even when we’re watching the real game of basketball. You can watch the video after the break.

What’s also apparent from the video is that 2K are obviously big on the fact that their game is represented by Lebron James’ championship winning mug, as well as his extraordinary ball skills, but when NBA 2K14 launches later this year it will have new competition for his selling power to fend off in the form of NBA Live 14, as EA are reviving their own basketball simulation series. Lucky for 2K, the game is looking rather nice on next-gen (if the miniscule glimpses from the video are anything to go by) and the franchise has always been solid in terms of game atmosphere and the level of fun that it provides (these also seemed to be have been preserved).
We’ll be keeping you posted on future NBA 2K14 to let you know how the game is shaping up.
The NBA 2K14 release date is November 15th (PS4) and November 22nd (Xbox One).
