Persona fans have been waiting for an incredibly long time for an update on the Atlus-developed and published series. The last game, Persona 4, saw a group of eclectic, funny characters take on Shadows once again, but that was released for PlayStation 2 and that was in 2008. There was also Persona 4 Golden, which was released in 2011 for those with PS Vitas to play through Persona 4 once more, albeit enhanced on the Vita’s fancy OLED touchscreens and Persona 4 Arena, a fighting game spin-off that launched last year for Xbox 360 and PS3. Nonetheless, fans are still looking forward to a new game, so they’ll be glad to know that a new announcement could be on the horizon as a Persona related Atlus site has popped up on the web.

The site, which can be found at p-ch.jp (with an image above), is rather light on details, but interestingly, it bears the symbol of the Persona team at the bottom of the site, next to the Atlus logo. It’s also complete with three empty boxes, with plenty of room for images of what could possibly be Persona 5 characters, next in line to be series leads after Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko and the gang. There’s also a list of several Japanese locations, which could very well be settings in the game, as although Persona 4 was based in the fictional Japanese rural town of Inaba, the games have very few interlinking features. The main feature on the site is, of course, the giant countdown, which points to 8pm (JST) on November 24th, 2013 for some sort of announcement, with most signs pointing to a Persona 5 reveal.
While the site could also be pointing to an announcement on the Persona 3 movie, which is expected for a 2013 release, we already know that Persona 5 is in production. Last year, Katsura Hashino, an Atlus executive, stated that the team has submitted initial sketches and that Persona 5 is making good progress.
We’ll keep you posted on Persona 5 developments once we know more about the game.
