Deals, glorious deals! Discounts and good bargains! I could be a songwriter, me, but for now I’m a humble deals reporter as Sony have announced a massive wealth of discounts on top of their earlier price slash this month and an Amazon-hosted sale that was also of good value. This new PSN sale runs a bit longer than those other two though, which I suppose is where the the allure is. There are PS4, PS3 and PS Vita games going cheap and you can find out more after the break.
PSN Sale: The Best Deals of the Bunch
In the interest of brevity (I counted over 50 games in the full list of deals) I’ve picked out a handful of the best deals and added a little commentary so that this is somewhat more useful to you than a reposted list!
Madden NFL 15
Would you like to control a grown man smashing into other grown men for the sake of putting a ball into a specific section of grass? Well good! That means you’ve understood the basic concept of sports!
Madden NFL 15, like many of the other Maddens before it (including the confusingly titled Madden NFL 25) offers up a whole host of new features. These don’t seem to just be incremental, back of the box upgrades though, EA promises “intuitive tackling mechanics” on the defensive side of things, “player emotion” and “contextual awareness” thanks to Player Sense 2.0 and there are also six new in-game cameras to rewatch the action from.
If that doesn’t convince you then there’s always this ace trailer.
On PS4: Was £59.99/€69.99/AU$99.95, now £44.99/€49.99/AU$69.95
On PS3: Was £59.99/€69.99/AU$99.95, now £39.99/€49.99/AU$69.95
Assassin’s Creed Series
With Assassin’s Creed Unity just a stabby blip in the horizon (its release date is next month) now is probably as good a time as ever to get stuck into the other games in the series.
My personal pick from the sale is Assassin’s Creed 3: Liberation for PS Vita as it features black, female assassin Aveline as she takes down slavemasters and relieves people from oppression.
That’s basically this site’s entire jam in one game and it’s also cheap as chips at £6.99/€9.99/AU$14.95 with 10% off if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.
The original Assassin’s Creed, AC2, AC: Brotherhood, AC3 and AC: Revelations are all on PS3 with megabucks off of the RRP so those are worth checking out too.
Dragon Age Series
Also releasing a fantastical new game later this year is the Dragon Age franchise. Dragon Age: Inquisition is highly anticipated but Dragon Age: Origins and its less good (but still ok) sequel Dragon Age 2 were decent entries in the series.
Various expansions and add-ons for both games are discounted in this PSN sale though, which gives you a good excuse to revisit DA‘s world of battles, power and opposite and same-sex romances before the next game comes out.
Dragon Age: Origins – Awakening and Dragon Age: Origins – Witch Hunt will add to the story of the first game while Dragon Age 2‘s deals mostly include item packs which will surely make its rubbish combat a bit less of a hassle.
Touch My Katamari
If you have a PS Vita and probably don’t have this game then…actually you’re probably not alone in that but you’re definitely missing out. Touch My Katamari is a title that I covered for our Girl vs Game column, finding humour in rolling animals, furniture and screaming, kicking people up into my little katamari ball of trash.
It’s a great deal of fun just to do that for hours on end and then try and do it again but score more points but Touch My Katamari is also brilliantly written for a game that’s about rolling a really sticky ball around a map.
It’s going for cheap, so, definitely worth it.
Was £14.99/€19.99/AU$24.95, now £5.79/€6.99/AU$10.45 (10% additional PS Plus discount)
All of the offers are available on the PSN Store (PAL region) until October 22nd, 2014. Click here to see the full list of deals.
