As another year of gaming comes to a close, J Station X wants to wish you a very happy holiday season and round up the year the right way!
J Station X has been around for almost five years now and 2014 has been the best on record – thousands of you visited the site to read the lovingly crafted posts and for that I am eternally grateful.
JSX started the year with a massive report on video game diversity, there were interviews like this one with Will Dubé from promising indie Jotun and previews like this one of upcoming PC, PS4 and Xbox One platformer Woolfe and huge feature pieces such as this one which picked apart (a quite racist) study that suggested that playing as black characters in video games made you aggressive. This year on J Station X there was plenty of great, insightful coverage but writing that last one in particular (and the reaction to it from readers) made me feel immensely proud to be in this line of work.
There were tweets from lots of lovely people including Rhianna Pratchett (writer of Tomb Raider and Rise of the Tomb Raider) who praised my piece on the Tomb Raider sequel and there were exclusive news stories that I broke like EA trying to get The Rock and Mike Tyson on board for EA UFC Sports 2. There were reviews of some fantastic titles such as this one of Never Alone and I did my best to cover the best money saving deals so that you could have something other than lint lining your wallets this Christmas.
But all of this wouldn’t be possible without the support and the readership of those reading this right now. While not every comment is positive (this being a site that tends to cover the more controversial aspects of gaming) most of them are and to know that people – whether it’s two, three or five thousand – enjoy the posts that I publish here on J Station X is incredibly humbling. For that I want to say the biggest thank you.
You can expect more of all this good stuff in 2015 then. The new year will bring some big changes and some big features as I try and make the site the best it can be and I highly encourage you to visit the site in a few weeks for more on that.
There won’t be any more posts on J Station X until Monday the 5th of January, 2015 so until then, have a happy holiday season and I hope to see you here again soon!
