By now, you’ve probably killed virtual zombies in just about every way you can. There’s the survival sort from H1Z1 and DayZ, there’s the ridiculous sort from Dead Rising and Dead Island and there’s the free-running sort from Dying Light. New zombie hack ‘n’ slash RPG Trapped Dead: Lockdown is actually of the top-down variety, fitting right in amongst Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition and How To Survive.
Just like How To Survive, Trapped Dead: Lockdown has a varied cast of characters with different abilities (including your bog standard mage, an assassin and a melee weapon specialist) and like Dead Nation: Apocalypse, the game is big on story. So it’s not revolutionising the genre then, but it could be a worthy addition.
Trapped Dead: Lockdown Released on Steam With 15% Launch Discount
The big ‘buy’ factors here are the great, stonking amount of weapons Trapped Dead: Lockdown offers you, along with its co-op mode.
Lockdown boasts “hundreds of weapons and items” including grenades, shotguns, revolvers, machetes, Tasers, rifles and the video game weapon du jour; the crossbow. There are plenty more on offer and publisher Headup Games says that they can be used with one another to create formidable zombie slaying strategies. For example, you could fire a concussion shot with a pistol and then finish the stunned zombie off with a hammer. Failing that, if you’re a mage you can just use your spell book to burn every zombie to a crisp, which sounds grisly and fun.
As the the co-op gameplay, Trapped Dead: Lockdown lets you play with up to three other players either online or local; whatever suits you best. Given that each character class also has over 30 passive and active skills that can be levelled up, that means that there will be a decent amount of play styles in your team and the zombies won’t know what’s hit ’em.
Headup Games is also making it easy for you and your friends to team up as they’re offering the Trapped Dead: Lockdown Four Pack which includes four copies of the game, three of which you can send to your friends. One copy of the original Trapped Dead game is also included
The Four Pack will cost you $39.99 / 36,99 Euro / £29.99, while the standard version of the game will cost you $19.99 / 19,99 Euro / £14.99. Both versions of Trapped Dead: Lockdown are now on sale on Steam with a 15% launch discount (which runs until the 27th of March).
