In the past few months, we have praised EA and The Sims 4 development team for listening to fans and making up for what was a disappointing launch. Fans asked for swimming pools and family trees and they added them to the game for free, fans wanted more space so they introduced new Sims 4 neighbourhoods, and fans also asked for more things to do and so they have released various Sims 4 DLC.
The latest of these DLC add-ons is The Sims 4 Perfect Patio Stuff pack which gives your Sims the tools they need for a chill hangout; including hot tubs. These hot tubs are a big, key feature as Sims of all ages can hang out in them and listen to the radio, and adult Sims can even WooHoo in them. It’s a shame then, that Sims 4 producer Graham Nardone has now confirmed that hot tubs will only ever be available to players who pay extra.
Sims 4 Hot Tubs Only Available If You Pay Extra
Speaking to a fan who asked if hot tubs will be offered in other expansion packs, as they are unable to buy Perfect Patio Stuff online, Nardone explained that “Hot Tubs won’t appear outside of Perfect Patio Stuff for a long time, if ever”. If you can’t buy Perfect Patio Stuff directly online, said the producer, check your local retailer to see if they sell digital codes, or buy EA/Origin Game Cards and use those to pay for the Stuff pack instead.
While Nardone’s advice is helpful for someone who can afford to buy Perfect Patio Stuff but just doesn’t have a way to buy it, this will be hard to hear for those who can’t pay extra for Perfect Patio Stuff and therefore will be unable to get hot tubs, ever. And yes, while it is acceptable for EA to hold off some gameplay extras, in previous Sims games, hot tubs were always available with the base game or for free. Even in The Sims 3, which included hot tubs in the Late Night and Pets expansion packs, players could still go to TheSims3.com and upload a certain amount of memories in order to get a hot tub for free.
As for other hot tub related info, Nardone told another fan that soon, hot tubs will have an impact on a Sim’s fun levels. Furthermore, Nardone said that they will be “updating the Hot Tub for the Easy Listening and Retro stations”. So look out for both of those changes in a future Sims 4 patch.
