Last year, I picked up Cook, Serve, Delicious! up on a whim when it was discounted in the Steam holiday sale, enticed by its description of “hardcore restaurant sim”. Well I’m glad to say that its incredibly difficult gameplay certainly delivered. It’s all about keeping up with orders, keeping up with managerial duties (like cleaning the toilets) all while attempting to become the most desirable eatery in the SherriSoda Tower.
As far as satisfaction goes, Cook, Serve, Delicious! was the complete package as you can play it for hours on end, trying not to fudge everything up and learning new and more complex dishes as you go. So it might seem a bit unusual that Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! has been announced, but developer Vertigo Gaming says that the sequel will be “massive” and that “everything is new”. Find out more after the break.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! Announced
Vertigo has cooked up a new story for this one, too. In Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!!, you’re forced to reopen your Cook, Serve, Delicious restaurant in the biggest skycraper in the city, the Teragon Supertower, after your old SherriSoda digs were shut down following the reveal that SherriSoda’s executives were stealing money from the company, and they’ve also drained your accounts. How nice of them.
But the game won’t just be a rehashing of the last game’s rags to riches gameplay as you’ll also get the chance to “star in the biggest reality cooking show ever, participate in tournaments all over the world, uncover mysterious ingredients”, plus “tons, tons more”, whatever that could be. Additionally, there’s brand new art from Camille Kuo, brand new music from Jonathan Geer, and there will be over 180 foods and 1,000+ recipes, including tres leches, chimichanga, oysters, and lamb chops.
Vertigo is also addressing the fact that the first game felt like a grind for some people, saying that fixing that with Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! was a “big priority”. Apparently, the lack of content in CSD! was due to a lack of funds, which is understandable. The developer will be doing weekly food reveals and gameplay announcements in the run up to release, so stay tuned to the Vertigo blog for that.
Cook, Serve, Delicious! 2!! will be released in 2016 on PC and PS4.
