For some time now, Riot Games has been hyping up the release of new League of Legends champion Tahm Kench. The River King, to call him by his nickname, is a grotesque beast of a monster who feeds off of fear in his backstory but in-game, he will swallow you whole.
The passive ability of his tongue-based attacks give him a stun and a slow and his Devour lets him swallow enemy champions to deal damage and limit their vision or he can use it to keep allied champions out of harm’s way. His ulti also works like a two-man teleport. Tahm Kench’s champion munching abilities make him a fantastic, tanky support and given that not everyone was convinced by (fellow support champ) Bard’s gameplay, he’s a welcome addition to the League of Legends roster. Find out the Tahm Kench release date after the break.
League of Legends Patch 5.13 – Tahm Kench Release Date
The Tahm Kench release date has been set for sometime during the cycle of patch 5.13, an update which Riot has scheduled for release tomorrow, July 9, 2015. The patch will go live and the League of Legends servers will go down for maintenance at these times: 03:00 Pacific time (08:30 UTC) on the North American servers, 5:00 UK time on EU West, and 3:00 CEST on EUNE. [UPDATE – The patch appears to have been delayed from July 8 to July 9, we have amended the post to reflect this]
The servers will be down for approximately three hours and it’s also important to note that ranked queues will be shut down 90 minutes before the servers go offline, so plan your games accordingly.
Also, if the release date of Ekko is anything to go by, we can expect Tahm Kench to show up on the in-game store a few hours after the patch has gone live, so don’t be alarmed if you download it and don’t see The River King on the store immediately.
In addition to the release of Tahm Kench, you can also expect these things to be included in League of Legends patch 5.13:
- Master Chef Tahm Kench skin
- Gentleman Gnar skin
- New chroma packs for Bard, Grim Reaper Karthus, and Dreadknight Nasus
- New eSports summoner icons for LCK, LMS, GPL Summer
- VFX updates for Nunu, Rumble, and Shyvana
It’s important to note that these are not official patch notes and not all of the things you see listed above are guaranteed to be included in patch 5.13 as Riot may make some last minute changes.
