Last week it was announced that the upcoming Heroes Reborn TV show (a reboot of the original sci-fi TV show) would be getting two spin-off video games. The ‘core’ game is called Heroes Reborn: Gemini and will be released on PC and consoles, while Heroes Reborn: Gemini would be released on mobile devices.
Most people were intrigued yet sceptical of the announcement. How would Gemini and Enigma be different from (Sucker Punch’s PlayStation exclusive series) inFamous? Are the powers going to be any good? Will the games, like the original TV show, suddenly become diabolically rubbish halfway through?
In the debut trailer for both games, those questions haven’t really been answered, but they do give us a first look at Heroes Reborn: Gemini and Enigma in action. Take a look after the break.
Heroes Reborn: Gemini and Enigma – Debut Trailer
Heroes Reborn: Gemini stars a woman named Cassandra who has telekinesis and close range time travel, which how you see her go from a darkened room to one that’s suddenly overgrown and decrepit. Her 14 year old sister is named Dahlia, and she’s the protagonist of Heroes Reborn: Gemini. There’s no word and what powers Dahlia has, but we do know that she’ll be trying to escape from a government facility named The Quarry.
What’s unclear is which bits of those trailer belong to which Heroes Reborn game. While the time travel clip and the box throw are both clearly from Gemini and we also see doctors surrounding a young girl who is probably Dahlia, none of the other pieces of gameplay are labelled. In fact, we don’t even know what’s gameplay and what isn’t. That, along with the fact that we still don’t know which consoles and mobile platforms the games will be on, does make it hard to fully support the games but we remain cautiously optimistic for now.
Heroes Reborn: Gemini will be released on PC and consoles, Heroes Reborn: Enigma will be released on mobile. Both games are scheduled for release in fall 2015.
