League of Legends patch 5.14 is a big one. It may not introduce a brand new champion (as patch 5.13 did with Tahm Kench) but it does include a massive set of new skins, a new game map and the HUD update that’s been in the works for months.
So not only will the update change how you play, but it will make it a great deal more fun too. It’s also out really soon, so find out the patch 5.14 release date, along with the suspected patch notes, after the break.
League of Legends Patch 5.14
Other than the HUD update, which should make League of Legends a more intuitive experience (and one that’s less difficult to keep track of), according to the current PBE cycle it will also include the following things. (Though, the patch notes are subject to change ahead of release and these may not be final). [UPDATE – These patch notes have now been confirmed by Riot]
- Butcher’s Bridge ARAM Map: For several weeks Riot has been testing the Butcher’s Bridge map for the ARAM (All Random, All Mid) game mode. As lovely as the Howling Abyss is, with its cutesy Poros, it doesn’t offer much variety and Butcher’s Bridge should provide that. As that above video shows, it has a nautical theme, and it’s also the battleground for the upcoming Bilgewater: Burning Tides event.
- Bilgewater skins: Coinciding with Bilgewater: Burning Tides, patch 5.14 also introduces six nautical skins. These include Captain Fortune (her splash screen is featured at the top of this post), Cutthroat Graves, Cutpurse Twisted Fate, Corsair Quinn, Rogue Admiral Garen, and Sea Hunter Aatrox.
- Gangplank and Miss Fortune reworks: Speaking of Miss Fortune, both her and Gangplank have gotten reworks in patch 5.14. Not only do they both look a lot different, but their abilities have completely been overhauled too. Click here for info on Miss Fortune’s rework and here for Gangplank’s.
- Black Market Brawlers FGM: And the final big feature of patch 5.14 is the Black Market Brawlers featured game mode (FGM). Taking place on Summoner’s Rift, Black Market Brawlers allows you to spend a new currency called ‘kraken’ on four different types of brawler minions which can help you in battle. Riot calls it one of their “most complex” FGMs to date, so click here for the official run down on that.
As for the patch 5.14 release date, prepare to download the update soon as Riot has released the following maintenance update for League of Legends‘ North American servers:
“On 07/22/15, starting at, 01:30 Pacific time (08:30 UTC), ranked queues will be disabled in preparation for patch 5.14. At 03:00 Pacific time (10:00 UTC), the servers will be shut down and all games currently in progress will end in a draw and stats will not be recorded. We estimate the battlegrounds will be unavailable for 3 hours.”
Servers go down at 5AM (UK time) on EUW and 3AM (CEST) for EUNE.
