Microsoft has had a rather good time at Gamescom 2015. From the showcase of new Rise of the Tomb Raider gameplay to the reveal of two FIFA 16 Xbox One bundles, there was something for everyone. Microsoft even managed to appeal to Gamescom’s German home crowd by announcing that The Devil’s Men, from German publisher Daedalic, is also headed to Xbox One after previously being announced for PC and Mac.
The Devil’s Men – which is actually a game that stars two women – is something we’ve had our eye on since the Daedalic Days event earlier this year. It was a nice surprise to see it on stage at Gamescom, but you can find out more about it (along with some other Daedalic titles) after the break.
The Devil’s Men on Xbox One
The Devil’s Men is set in the 19th century in a “sleepy” seaside town in England. But sleepy doesn’t mean ‘completely peaceful’. One of the game’s leads, Adelaide Spektor, soon finds that out when she witnesses the murder of one of her dad’s old friends. Given that she’d also been abandoned by her father, Karol Spektor, and had been trying to avoid joining a gang called “the colony”, you can imagine that Adelaide could do with a bit of peace and quiet.
Things go from bad to worse when Adelaide has to team up with Emily, who is a colonist, a murderer and is also the other lead character in The Devil’s Men. The two of them end up working together after they get caught in a plot revolving around the Devil’s Men, who are “a coterie of scientists who have exceeded the limits of the spiritual and material world”.
Unfortunately, that’s all we know about The Devil’s Men right now. There are some screenshots, as you can see in this post, but the game doesn’t have a trailer. In fact, most of the press info about the game seems to be in German, so it could be quite some time before the game releases on Xbox One.
It’s also worth mentioning that Daedalic has some other games coming to Xbox One as well. There’s the adaptation of Ken Follett’s book, The Pillar of the Earth, which will be a medieval adventure game when that’s released in 2017. And coming out a bit sooner is AER, the action exploration game about a girl who can shape-shift into a bird. AER will be out on Xbox One (and PC and PS4) in 2016, and you can watch the brand new Gamescom trailer for it here.
