Rock Band 4 is the game that many of us have been waiting for for years, and having launched in a prime, pre-holidays spot, the game should have been off and running. Unfortunately, various bugs, with the game software itself and with the calibration of instruments, have marred that experience a bit.
But developer and co-publisher Harmonix is on the case, and has been working on a Rock Band 4 update to fix their game’s biggest issues. That update is now available and you can read some of the patch notes highlights and find out more information about the game’s new, 1970s DLC after the break.
Rock Band 4 Update + 1970s DLC Released
The full list of patch notes can be found on the Harmonix blog but some highlights include the addition of “5.1 surround crowd audio support and mic volume adjustment” which many Rock Band 4 players have been asking for since launch. Other new features are that “Quickplay now uses the most recent band’s stand-ins to populate characters” and there is now “added functionality to support vocal overdrive deploy with touch pad for PlayStation 4”.
As for bug fixes, players using legacy instruments will be glad to know that the lefty flip issue with Guitar Hero drums (on Xbox One) has been fixed, as has the issue with Guitar Hero: World Tour guitars not deploying overdrive when tilted (on PS4) and The Beatles: Rock Band guitar will now auto-calibrate (on PS4) as well. Meanwhile, general Rock Band 4 bug fixes include: a fix for the issue with Tour Choice getting stuck in a locked City, a fix for character preview getting stuck open when going into difficulty select/gameplay, and a fix to make it possible for you to earn guitar solo achievements even if you have guitar solo cues turned off.
As for Rock Band 4‘s new, 1970s DLC, the following tracks are now available on PS4 and Xbox One as part of Harmonix’s weekly release schedule (previous DLC includes songs from the 1980s and an Aerosmith track pack):
- The Hollies – “Long Cool Woman (In A Black Dress)”
- Iggy Pop – “Lust For Life”
- Robert Palmer – “Bad Case Of Loving You (Doctor, Doctor)”
These tracks can be purchased individually for $1.99.
