Last month, Konami shocked quite a few people by announcing that a free to play version of their popular football sim, Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, would be released on PS3 and PS4. Offering limited access to the game, PES 2016 free to play aims to get more people into PES and, possibly, steer sales away from EA’s rival franchise, FIFA.
In other PES 2016 news, Konami has also been teasing something called ‘myClub Legends’. Early indications seemed to suggest that Legends would feature football’s greats in some capacity and that it would also be a rival to FIFA Ultimate Team Legends. Those predictions were spot on and now Konami has officially unveiled the mode with a brand new trailer. Find out more after the break.
PES 2016 Free to Play Released on PS3, PS4
Konami describes PES 2016 free to play as an “entry level” version of the game, as it offers a pared down version of the main PES 2016 experience. For example, the game’s Exhibition mode offers just seven major teams (such as Brazil, France and Bayern Munich). But what it lacks in one-off matches, it makes up for with PES 2016‘s myClub mode.
PES 2016 myClub allows players to put together superstar teams as they can “use points acquired through success in matches, or with myClub coins, to experience realistic club management to develop a squad”. Players can choose a manager, recruit coaches and put together “a long-term strategy based on their specific aims”, as they aim to put together the best team possible.
PES 2016 myClub Legends
In addition to the base PES 2016 myClub mode, though, the game will soon honour some of the most talented footballers from over the years. Realistic models of Roberto Baggio, Filippo Inzaghi, Roberto Carlos, Luis Figo and Oliver Kahn will all be added to the game on December 17.
In order for players to enlist the help of these legendary talents, Konami says that we should look out for a “special agent” who will offers PES 2016 players “a chance to sign some of the footballing world’s most respected players” including those five legends. So start planning your new teamsheets now.
