Following a busy 2015 for League of Legends, Riot Games has kept the momentum going well into the new year. Patch 6.1 has gifted us a truckload of Lunar Revel 2016 content including new skins (for Wukong, Caitlyn, and Morgana) a new ward and new summoner icons too. But patch 6.2 will be event bigger and better.
Not only is Riot Games introducing yet another new line of skins with this update, but we can also expect the Shen champion rework and brand new champion Jhin, The Virtuoso. Riot has just announced the patch 6.2 release date, so click ‘read more’ to find out about League of Legends‘ newest content drop.
League of Legends Patch 6.2 Release Date
Riot Games has announced that League of Legends patch 6.2 will be released on January 28, 2016. The following is the North American server maintenance notice for the update:
“On 01/28/16, starting at, 01:30 Pacific time (09:30 UTC), ranked queues will be disabled in preparation for patch 6.2. At 03:00 Pacific time (11:00 UTC), the servers will be shut down and all games currently in progress will end in a draw and stats will not be recorded. We estimate the battlegrounds will be unavailable for 3 hours.”
The EUW servers will go down at 5:00AM UTC and the EUNE servers will go down at 3:00AM CET.
The most anticipated feature of patch 6.2 is the arrival of new League of Legends champion Jhin. While we don’t yet know the exact Jhin release date, we do know that he will be released at some point during this cycle, bringing his artistic, critical striking abilities with him. His release skin is High Noon Jhin and it will cost 1350 RP.
And speaking of new skins, patch 6.2 will also include the new Beast Hunter line of skins. Beast Hunter Sejuani, Beast Hunter Tryndamere and Beast Hunter Draven will all be available for 750 RP. The splash screen above doesn’t do the skins justice so click the following links to see videos of the pre-release skin spotlights – Sejuani, Tryndamere, Draven.
Moreover League of Legends patch 6.2 features the long-awaited Shen rework. The tanky support champion has needed a change for quite some time, and Riot Games admits that Shen is quite old school. As a result, Riot has now changed how his abilities work (e.g such as his passive shield) helping him help out allied champions even more and his skins have also been tweaked accordingly too. And finally, this patch includes plenty of balance changes, these are the most noteworthy:
- Gangplank: Cannon Barrage’s cooldown has been increased to 160/150/140 from 140/130/120
- Dr. Mundo: Masochism’s AD increase has been lowered to 20/40/60/80/100 from 40/55/70/85/100 and the AD gained for % of health missing has been lowered to .2/.4/.6/.8/1.0 from .4/.55/.7/.85/1.
- Kindred: Dance of Arrows now costs 35 mana at all ranks and Mounting Dread’s damage has been lowered to 60/90/120/150/180 from 80/110/140/170/200.
