League of Legends patch 6.4, which was released in the second half of February, was a bit underwhelming. While not every update released by Riot Games can have a bumper-load of content, some players were disappointed that the patch only introduced a couple of new Blood Moon skins, an icon, small changes to lore and the usual balance changes.
Admittedly, patch 6.5 is also on the small side as Riot prepares to unleash some very big, much hyped changes to the game in the coming weeks. That’s not to say that this update doesn’t include plenty to tide us over though, as new skins and teasers for new champion Aurelion Sol are all included. Find out more about the update, along with the League of Legends patch 6.5 release date after the jump.

Also featured in patch 6.5 are teasers for upcoming League of Legends champion, Aurelion Sol, The Star Forger. While it’s unclear just when this star-crushing new champion will land on the Rift (though all signs point to a full reveal this week) following that bold teaser trailer, League of Legends players will soon find themselves hearing Aurelion Sol’s voice during ARAMs, with the voice work being triggered by things such as turret kills and victories.
Also included in League of Legends patch 6.5 are the following:
- Cho’Gath Ability Icons: The icons for Cho’Gath’s abilities have received a visual update, see the whole lot here (left to right: Passive, Q, W,E, R)
- Kog’Maw Changes: In patch 6.5, the void puppy’s attack speed growth has increased to 3.5 from 1.5, while Bio-Arcane Barrage now deals a flat rate of 10/15/20/25/30 magic damage while active, but it now longer gives the champion a passive 15/20/25/30/35% attack speed.
- Nautilus’ Riptide: The damage dealt by tanky sea-dweller Nautilus’ Riptide ability will also be lowered in this update, and will be 55/85/115/145/175 down from 60/95/130/165/200.
- Soraka Changes: League of Legends patch 6.5 also brings a huge set of changes to Soraka. This includes Starcall which now has a mana cost of 40 (at all ranks, down from 70/75/80/85/90), its cooldown is now five seconds (down from 7/6.5/6/5.5/5 seconds) and it slows down all enemies hit rather than just those in the centre. If any enemy gets hit then Soraka also gains Rejuvenation “which restores up to 14-22 (+10% AP) health per second and grants 15% movement speed when not moving toward enemy champions”. Astral Infusion’s heal now heals for 80/110/140/170/200, down from 120/150/180/210/240 and if she casts it while Rejuvenation is active “Soraka will grant her target its benefits for 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 seconds”.
Currently in testing on the League of Legends PBE is the much hyped Hextech Crafting system, an overhaul of the in-game shop and the ‘Clubs’ feature. As mentioned, Aurelion Sol is right around the corner, so we’ll have more for you on the new champion as soon as Riot makes an official announcement.
