It’s that time of the year again when Activision announces a brand new entry in its massively popular first-person shooting series, Call of Duty. Although this year’s reveal has been hit with leaks that saw both the game’s name and its debut trailer pop up online ahead of time, that doesn’t make things any less exciting.
The new game is called Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and it arrives later this year. What’s special about Infinite Warfare – setting apart from the boomstick-wielding gameplay of all of the other Call of Duty games – is that for the first time ever, it will take the action to space. Find out more after the break.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Announced
In a press release, Activision and developer Infinity Ward explain that the campaign “extends beyond the reaches of Earth into the vast expanse of our solar system” and “in a desperate time of overwhelming adversity, the player, as Captain of their own warship, must take command against a relentless enemy.” The player character is Tier 1 Special Operations pilot Captain Reyes, who can be either a male or female character, according to GameSpot.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare has also got “never before seen environments, new weaponry and inventive player abilities,” boots on the ground combat and players will also get to pilot “high speed space-fighters.” Players will also “learn to lead and to make the hard decisions necessary to achieve victory.”
Moreover, in a post on the PlayStation Blog, Infinity Ward communications director Eric Monacelli revealed that Infinite Warfare features “an original cooperative Zombies mode that takes players on a wild ride through a new storyline with unique gameplay features and mechanics.” Monacelli didn’t offer any more details than that but the director did say that PS4 palyers will get DLC map packs 30 days early.
Activision has also announced the Legacy Edition/Digital Legacy Edition which includes Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered (which is being developed by Raven Software and includes 10 multiplayer maps), the Digital Deluxe Edition which includes both games and a season pass and the Legacy Pro Edition which includes all of those items as well as a collectible steelbook, the official soundtrack and additional digital items. Modern Warfare Remastered will only be available as part of these special editions, according to Amazon.
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be released on November 4, 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
