In new sci-fi RPG The Technomancer, player character Zachariah is a rookie technomancer who is able to wield devastating electrical attacks to eliminate his foes. Set on Mars, players can take on a variety of quests and level up skills and perks as they aim to defeat mutants and “forge the destiny” of the red planet.
The Technomancer also features several companions that Zachariah can romance, forming relationships to “open new pathways and quests.” While romance certainly isn’t an uncommon feature in RPGs, many players have praised The Technomancer for including a same-sex romance, with Zachariah able to form a bond with male ally Andrew. Find out more after the break.

The Technomancer Same-Sex Romance
Andrew, who players meet as “Lucky” in the first chapter of the game, is one of several companions that can join Zachariah as he goes on the run from Mars’ secret police.
Over the course of the game, the characters can grow closer and Andrew and Zachariah even get their own love scene, as embedded above. Andrew appears to be the only male companion that Zachariah is able to romance.
According to one player who writes on The Technomancer’s Steam page, the interactions between Andrew and Zachariah aren’t exactly smooth, due to bugs. Not only does the player note issues with Andrew’s animations during the love scene but they also say that “after the romance/intimacy scene, the option to talk to Andrew sometimes doesn’t appear.”
Thankfully, these bugs don’t sound too serious and there seems to be no reason why Spiders (The Technomancer’s developer) can’t fix them.
Bugs aside, though, The Technomancer’s same-sex romance could make it a worthwhile buy for those patiently awaiting Mass Effect: Andromeda’s early 2017 release date as BioWare’s sci-fi RPG is also expected to feature same-sex romances (including F/F relationships and not just M/M ones) but it’s still a long way off.
The Technomancer is out now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
