While DONTNOD Entertainment’s episodic series Life is Strange was in no shortage of fans as it is, more gamers recently jumped into the game as Life is Strange episode 1 was released for free. But it seems that DONTNOD and (Life is Strange publisher) Square Enix have more plans for the the title as a Life is Strange live-action series has now been announced.
Legendary Digital Studios and Square Enix have revealed that a Life is Strange series will be released digitally, signalling the second video game-to-series announcement in recent weeks as a Mirror’s Edge TV show is also planned. Find out more after the break.
Life is Strange Live-Action Series
Legendary says Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons from dj2 Entertainment, who will be on production and development duties for the series. dj2 is also the production team behind the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which isn’t out until 2018, so it’s difficult to know how the company will handle its next video game spin-off.
With Life is Strange having a BAFTA-award winning story, it will be interesting to see how this is preserved for the live-action, digital format.
Very little is known about the project (it’s still in an “early part of the creative process,” co-director Michel Koch tells Metro) so it’s probably too soon to suggest who will be playing the show’s female leads. However, if the live-action series can preserve the game’s stellar writing, then Life is Strange fans and non-fans who just like female-led projects will have plenty to smile about.
