Country living RPG Stardew Valley has been given an Xbox One release date. The game’s developer Eric Barone (ConcernedApe) confirmed the release date alongside a new trailer, showcasing examples of Stardew Valley gameplay.
The announcement follows a confirmation this summer that Stardew Valley would be coming to consoles, including the PS4 and the Wii U.
Stardew Valley Xbox One Release Date
In a post on the Xbox Wire, Barone confirmed that Stardew Valley will be released on Xbox One on December 14, with pre-orders available from the Microsoft Store available beginning November 30. The game, which sees players inherit a plot of land, features “many ways to find success” including farming, fishing, raising animals and fighting monsters.
The game also allows players to befriend, marry and have children with NPCs. Stardew Valley has received high praise from gay and bisexual gamers regarding the fact that it allows same-sex relationships, also being called a welcome alternative to (a game that Barone says inspired Stardew Valley) Story of Seasons, which does not allow same-sex relationships.
Unfortunately, it’s unclear when Stardew Valley will be released on PS4 and Wii U. Barone, who is working with (Stardew Valley‘s PC publisher) Chucklefish and Sickhead Games on the console versions, previously said that they planned to release all three versions “in time for the winter holidays” though release dates for these consoles have yet to be confirmed.
Additionally, gamers want to know if its possible that Stardew Valley will come to other platforms besides the announced consoles. The Nintendo Switch would be a good fit for the game, in particular, say fans who would ‘love’ to see the farming sim on the newly announced Nintendo console.
Many also want to see the game on iOS and Android as well as the Nintendo 3DS, but it’s unclear if Barone and co. have any plans to release Stardew Valley on any more platforms once the game is out on Xbox One, Wii U and PS4.
[UPDATE] – In a post on the Stardew Valley website, Barone confirmed that Stardew Valley will also be launching on PS4 on December 13 (North America) and December 14 (Europe).
The developer also said that the Wii U version of the game has been cancelled after “looking at Wii U and the current gaming landscape” and development efforts have now turned to bringing Stardew Valley to the Nintendo Switch.
