Fighting game Injustice 2 gets a new trailer focusing on its female characters. The trailer confirms that Poison Ivy, Catwoman and Cheetah will star in the game which features several superheroes and supervillains from the DC Comics universe.
Injustice 2 is the follow up to Injustice: Gods Among Us which we gave a nine out of 10 in our PS4 review.
Injustice 2 Trailer Features New Female Characters
The new Injustice 2 trailer confirms even more playable female characters in the game as Cheetah, Catwoman and Poison Ivy will all star on the roster. The trailer even features a badass looking Black Canary, a character who had previously been confirmed for the fighting game.
While it’s unclear whether the women in the trailer will feature heavily in the Injustice 2 story, all of them look pretty lethal. Black Canary wants to punch and kick criminals into justice and cat/human hybrid Cheetah will take a slice out of enemies with her super sharp claws. Poison Ivy uses her powers over nature to take foes down, meanwhile, Catwoman can deal out damage with her trusty whip.
It will also be interesting to see how much banter goes on between the women and other characters. Catwoman, who featured in Batman: Arkham Knight, has a teasing conversation with Batman, Poison Ivy and Cheetah, for example. Supergirl and Wonder Woman also star in the game, so maybe there will be interactions with them too.
But what about (previously confirmed character) Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy? The two women have dated in DC Comics canon but will that translate into witty remarks in the game? Given that Arkham Knight‘s Harley Quinn DLC (which featured Ivy) made no mention of it, it seems unlikely, but fans of the characters and those eager for more LGBT representation in video games will be hopeful.
Injustice 2 will be released on PS4 and Xbox One on May 16, 2017. An iOS and Android version is also being planned.
