Mafia 3 DLC Stones Unturned gets an official release date and trailer. Developer Hangar 13 and publisher 2K Games confirmed that the downloadable content will be available on PC and consoles later this month.
The release of Stones Unturned follows the launch of the first piece of Mafia 3 DLC, Faster, Baby!, earlier this year.
Mafia 3 DLC Stones Unturned Release Date
Today, Hangar 13 and 2K confirmed that Mafia 3 DLC Stones Unturned will be available on May 30 on Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The expansion content will see player character Lincoln Clay team up with Landon Donovan as the two Vietnam veterans take down Conor Aldridge.
Here’s the official description for the forthcoming add-on:
Bound by a brotherhood forged in Vietnam, John Donovan never hesitated to answer Lincoln Clay’s call for revenge. Lincoln will return the favor when Connor Aldridge, a traitor who once left Donovan for dead, resurfaces to violently upend New Bordeaux in search of highly volatile lost cargo. To stop him, Lincoln and Donovan must fight Aldridge’s mercenary army side-by-side.
In a trailer for Stones Unturned, several developers from the Mafia 3 team further explain what to expect from the DLC. Aldridge starts “cutting a path of destruction” through the city of New Bordeaux and Donovan recognises that Aldridge poses a “threat,” which is why he calls on Lincoln Clay to help put a stop to the figure from his past.
In terms of new content, this second piece of DLC from the Mafia 3 season pass takes players through the districts of New Bordeaux as well as into a new island with a rainforest that resembles Vietnam. Players will also face off against a Aldridge’s military-trained mercenaries and will be able to take them down with “heavy firepower” including RPGs, a a new “sniper service” and turrets for “one of the most enjoyable experiences” that the developer has had with the game.
Although Stones Unturned may not tackle such deep social issues as Faster, Baby! did, as that saw Mafia 3 continue to tackle racism and civil rights, the new content is still sure to deliver something that fans have asked for since release. It promises banter between Lincoln and his collaborators and lets players see Donovan gets out from behind the desk so while it may not be trying to say something, the DLC could still hit the right mark amongst fans.
