Borealys Games confirms the Mages of Mystralia release date for PC. The game stars a young girl named Zia who is born with magical powers and finding herself in exile because of it, goes on an adventure to learn new spells and control her talents.
The developer previously explained why Mages of Mystralia features an ‘unlikely’ female protagonist, as well as how it takes inspiration from The Legend of Zelda series.
Mages of Mystralia Release Date Revealed
Developer Borealys Games reveals that Mages of Mystralia will be released on May 18 for Windows PC. The game will cost $24.99/€24.99 via Steam, however, Borealys says that anyone who purchases the game before May 23 will get a 10% on this price.
Moreover, Borealys says that fans can expect the release date for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Mages of Mystralia to be revealed “shortly.” It’s unclear whether that information will come before or after the game is out on PC, but it’s good news that those hoping to play through Zia’s grand adventure on console won’t have to wait long, at least.
Alongside this news, the developer has also released the Mages of Mystralia launch trailer. Celebrating the forthcoming release of the game, which made it onto our list of games with female protagonists we’re looking forward to this year, it’s chock full of wondrous gameplay.
While there’s plenty of footage of its beastly enemies, including a jumping lizard and a club-wielding troll, a fair amount is all about the game’s spell-crafting feature. Mages of Mystralia players have the power to craft tons of different spells, including fireballs that ricochet, balls of ice that take out enemies in rows and more.
The game’s whimsical art style is also on show and it looks pretty delightful considering that it’s a game about a young girl whose magical abilities could get her locked up (magic is forbidden in this world). And there’s talk of “darkness” too which sort of puts a dampener on things. Put all those features together, though, and Mages of Mystralia could prove to be a real hit.
