At E3 2017, Focus Home Interactive and New World Interactive revealed the first trailer for Insurgency: Sandstorm. The debut footage shows the game’s female lead character in action as she hits back hard against the enemy.
Insurgency: Sandstorm Trailer Shows Female Lead Character in Action
Insurgency: Sandstorm was announced earlier this year by New World and Focus Home. Coming to PC and consoles, the game stars a female lead who was previously held captive by insurgents. Now that she’s free she’s leading a rebel group including a female fighter who is her best friend and was held captive alongside her, a French citizen and an American soldier.
Some of this squad-based combat can be seen in the debut trailer for the game, above. Unfortunately the game’s lead female protagonist (who has yet to be named) doesn’t speak and the other characters in the group are not introduced, but the American combat veteran does more than enough talking for all of them. He explains that he lost people in the field too and that he understands what the unnamed lead is going through.
While the trailer confirms that Insurgency: Sandstorm will feature plenty of bombastic action as well as fighting on the frontline, it also hints at quieter moments, such as the car ride. There’s also another scene where the game’s female lead seems stunned by some intel that she’s being shown on a smartphone and one clip shows a woman, devastated and being ravaged by the sand.
Focus Home and New World will have plenty of time to detail the game even more before it’s out. Fans also have their fingers crossed that the voices will be improved massively by the time it releases too, saying that the American’s speech and the writing need a lot of work. Hopefully the next glimpse of the game will show marked improvements.
Insurgency: Sandstorm will be released on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. A closed alpha will be available on PC later this year.
