Read Only Memories Nintendo Switch Release Was a ‘Tough Decision’

Last week developer MidBoss confirmed that 2064: Read Only Memories will be released on the Nintendo Switch in 2018. Called 2064: Read Only Memories Integral, it will offer Switch-specific improvements. The announcement was great news to fans eager to play the futuristic game on the go, but creator Matt Conn reveals that the decision to make a Switch version didn’t come easily.
Speaking to me in an email, Conn says that bringing 2064: Read Only Memories to the Nintendo Switch was a “tough decision” as the MidBoss team had “initially passed on the Wii U version for a few reasons.” However, as soon as the team got its hands on the new Nintendo console, the developers “realized just how perfect it was for this type of game.”
Bringing the game to the Switch has a few benefits. Conn explains that “with the Switch version, we’ll be able to use our current playmode, as well as a new touch-based play mode for mobile play, that I think will allow for gamers to really customize their gameplay experience.” Fast-skip, auto-saves, new voiced scenes and more are also promised.
But on top of this, it will bring the game to a “whole new group of gamers.” 2064: Read Only Memories “was intended to be enjoyed by a wide range of audiences” and Conn is “really excited” to see what Nintendo Switch players think of adorable character Turing, the game’s world of Neo-San Francisco and the game’s “unique storyline.”
2064: Read Only Memories Integral will be released on Nintendo Switch in 2018. The game is currently available on Windows PC, Mac, Linux and PS4, with an Xbox One release planned for July.
