Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be a ‘reset button’ for the Uncharted series, reveals developer Naughty Dog. The standalone title focuses on female protagonist Chloe and her ally Nadine as they look for the Tusk of Ganesha.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy – Could Chloe Frazer Get Her Own Series?
In a recent interview with engadget, Naughty Dog writer Josh Scherr said that Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is like “resetting the button” for the popular PlayStation franchise. Although “there will be some stuff there that’ll make [existing fans] be like, ‘ooooh, that’s cool!,” Scherr explained that the team “really wanted it to be as standalone as humanly possible.”
Scherr also responded with “never say never” when asked if Naughty Dog could make more standalone Uncharted games. Meanwhile, in a separate interview with Eurogamer, creative director and writer Shaun Escayg revealed that he “highly” doubts that the Uncharted franchise is done.
These recent comments have fans hoping that Chloe, Nadine or the two women together could star in a follow up to Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and that the game won’t be so standalone after all. While Nathan Drake’s story is done and dusted, Naughty Dog is clearly quite keen to tell the story of Chloe Frazer, her heritage and her adventures and the developer may well be willing to explore that some more.
For now though, The Lost Legacy looks like it could be a masterpiece. Judging by the new gameplay trailer above, it will deliver all of the bombastic set-pieces and the awe-inspiring moments that fans have come to expect from the franchise. It will also offer plenty of brilliant interactions between its two female leads – despite Chloe and Nadine having a difficult dynamic some of the time.
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be released on August 22 on PS4.
