A new gameplay demo for The Swords of Ditto will win you over with its cuteness. The adorable RPG already impressed E3 2017 attendees, who agreed that it was one of the most charming games at the event.
The Swords of Ditto is One of the Most Heart-Warming Games Around
Being developed by One Bit Beyond with Devolver Digital on publishing duties, the game sees players become a “hero of legend” called The Swords of Ditto. They must fight an evil figure named Momo.
Partly procedurally generated, The Swords of Ditto promises a “unique adventure” for each new hero, along with a “delightful but dangerous overworld,” “menacing dungeons” as well as loot and big battles. The game doesn’t seem to boast traditional character customisation, according to the ‘new game’ sequences in the gameplay demo, but players may generate as a female character and/or a character of colour.
Although it’s evil globs, angry plants and fuzzy giant bosses look like trouble, there is very little about The Swords of Ditto that doesn’t look adorable. Even special attacks, which include a conker on a chain, a big foot stomping out of the sky, and a spinning vinyl record, are whimsical in that almost-funny kind of way.
The Swords of Ditto also includes a brilliant feature that you may have missed in the gameplay footage. When players are playing in co-op and their co-op partner runs out of HP, the player can give their pal a big hug to revive them. Between this cutesy, health-restoring mechanic as well as things like sticker collecting, it’s clear that the game has been made with all age groups in mind and it’s all the better for it.
The Swords of Ditto will be released in early 2018 on Windows PC and PS4.
