New details about the Star Wars Battlefront 2 story are revealed in a brand new developer diary. The behind the scenes look at the game, presented at the D23 convention, shed more light on female protagonist Iden Versio and how she became a trooper.
This is the latest look at the game since EA presented a new Star Wars Battlefront 2 trailer featuring Iden and Rey at E3 2017.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 Story Gives Players a Look at the ‘Dark Side’
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will tell the story of Iden Versio, an Imperial soldier who is incredibly loyal to the Empire. In this video, the developers explain a bit more about that, revealing that after the fall of the Death Star 2 and the death of the Emperor, the female lead is faced with an “extreme” challenge.
“What sort of choices would somebody in that situation have to make about who they are and what the galaxy was going to become?” ask the devs. Janina Gavankar, who plays the lead character, also asks whether this now means that Iden and the other Imperial forces are suddenly the “underdogs.”
If there’s anyone who is up to such a challenge, though, it’s Iden. Gavankar also explains that the Star Wars Battlefront 2 lead grew up on a planet called Vardos and was “very quickly put into a military camp for children.” Her father is also an Admiral for the Empire and Iden “she has spent her whole life building up to this moment, to be Commander of Inferno Squad.”
Iden is also joined by Hask who is “zealous” and “invested” in the Empire and Del, a character who is essentially the comic relief. While the three Imperial soldiers may have varying personalities, the dynamic of the squad should be a selling point on its own. The Empire may not traditionally be the ‘protagonist’ but the Star Wars Battlefront 2 story could well have players finding new heroes in these characters.
Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released on November 17 on Windows PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
