EA announces The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs expansion pack during Gamescom 2017. The confirmation follows months of rumor and speculation that a Pets expansion was in the works for the popular god-hand game.
The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs Release Date, Trailer and Details
At Gamescom 2017 EA revealed that The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs will be released on November 10, 2017 for players on Windows PC and Mac. It’s unclear when console players will be able to play the Cats and Dogs content but all DLC from the PC version will be available to PS4 and Xbox One players at some point.
The main feature of The Sims 4 Cats and Dogs is Create A Pet which allows players to design the cat or dog of their dreams. Customization options include choosing a breed (or mixing two breeds), choosing their patterns (including a Stencil tool for more complicated patterns), and selecting their traits as well.
Promising “the most expressive, interesting, and distinct pets we’ve ever made,” the development team confirms that you can teach your pets different tricks, take them for walks in Brindleton Bay (a new Sims 4 world), let them chase birds and more. Sims will also be able to pursue the Vet career path, purchasing their very own Vet Clinic to diagnose and treat poorly pets.
Most players have responded to the announcement with excitement. Fans have been frustrated with a lack of content, even accusing EA of putting more effort into (upcoming release) The Sims Mobile over the The Sims 4 on PC and this will go a long way to getting them back on board. There are a few who are disappointed that the expansion doesn’t include horses and other animals (as one leak suggested that it would) but fingers crossed that The Sims 4 will add that at some point in future.
