Bringing Lara Croft to the Nintendo Switch would be a “great idea,” says Crystal Dynamic’s senior brand director Rich Briggs. Briggs dropped the comment during a recent live interview, agreeing that some of the female protagonist‘s previous adventures would look great on the new Nintendo console.
Crystal Dynamics has reportedly started work on the next Lara Croft adventure already, with Shadow of the Tomb Raider rumoured to be in development.
Could Tomb Raider Release on the Nintendo Switch?
During an interview with IGN Live at Gamescom 2017, Crystal Dynamics’ Rich Briggs was asked whether some of Lara Croft’s isometric, top-down games could come to the Nintendo Switch. Briggs said that he would “love to play” Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light on his Nintendo Switch.
Briggs added that bringing the iconic female character to the console would be a “good idea,” also nodding in agreement. Though, Briggs told viewers that they shouldn’t look into the “conspiratorial look” that he gave the camera and insisted that he isn’t saying “anything,” before reaffirming that Lara Croft on Nintendo Switch would be a “great idea.”
Although Briggs declined to make any announcements during the the interview, there are many others who would love to play as Lara Croft on the go too. Both of Lara’s top-down titles are under 3GB in size, making them ideal for the Switch’s small amount of built-in storage. As publisher Square Enix is already supporting the Nintendo Switch, they could offer some advice to Crystal Dynamics in porting the games to the console.
While a Switch release remains unconfirmed, big things are in the works for Lara Croft and the Tomb Raider series away from the new Nintendo platform. Rise of the Tomb Raider will be getting some Xbox One X enhancements on November 7 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider is likely to be the next new game in the franchise. So those who enjoy playing as the iconic adventurer have a lot to look forward to.
