PlatinumGames and Nintendo confirm that Bayonetta 3 is in development as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. The game stars the titular witch as well as her famous guns and her hair that can be used as a weapon.
There are already plenty of Nintendo Switch games with female characters and Bayonetta 3 will be a welcome addition to the list.
Beloved Female Protagonist to Return in Bayonetta 3
Nintendo was involved in The Game Awards 2017 in a big way as the company announced a major new Nintendo Switch exclusive. The company confirms that PlatinumGames is currently developing Bayonetta 3 exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
Unfortunately, at less than a minute long, the Bayonetta 3 teaser trailer is incredibly brief. Though, Bayonetta looks better than ever, sliding across the floor, shooting up the place with her handguns, and slicing at the screen for good measure.
The video offers no hints about what the female protagonist may be getting up to in the third game and no release date (or even a release year) has been confirmed either. But even so, fans of the franchise are delighted to see the game officially announced as PlatinumGames has been teasing a new series entry for a little while.
As fans of the witchy franchise wait for more information on the new game, they can spend the time replaying Bayonetta 1 and 2. Nintendo also announces that the first two games in the series will also be released on Nintendo Switch early next year. Players will be able to take the games on the go from February 16, 2018.
Although this wasn’t shown off in The Game Awards trailer, PlatinumGames has since confirmed that Bayonetta 2 will feature local wireless co-op play. The previously online-only Tag Climax mode can be played either online or off in the Switch re-release.
Moreover, Bayonetta 2 will support amiibo (including the Bayonetta amiibo for Super Smash Bros.) and players will be able to record gameplay videos of up to thirty seconds as well. Hopefully, PlatinumGames and Nintendo will reveal footage of this ahead of launch.
