Hidden Gems of the Gaming World : PlayStation Move

All together now - 'I like to move it, move it...'

This week’s ‘Hidden Gems of the Gaming World’ post talks about a not-so-Hidden-Gem ; PlayStation Move. The thousands of adverts on TV, the web and in magazines mean that this is just about as far away from a ‘Hidden Gem’ as you can get, but I feel like PS Move doesn’t get enough credit for how fun and enjoyable it is, which is why I’d like to talk about it here!

Little known factoid – the PlayStation Move tech and (compatible Move game) Start the Party are the last video game related things that I bought out of my own pocket (the generous bank of Mum & Dad bought Black Ops or me!) and to be honest, I’m incredibly proud of myself for saving up to buy such a brilliant piece of tech.

Now I can’t vouch for Microsoft’s Kinect as I’ve not used it, but it seems the PS Move is right up there as one of the most precise motion-gaming gadgets in existence.

PS Move Controller

PS Move. It's awesome.

I think I more or less gave PS Move (and Start The Party) enough praise with my review though just in case you’re still not 100% convinced as to why you should fork out £50 on it, keep reading.

Well for a start, the game is not just for stupendously large families or groups of friends who like waving things at TVs, it can also be used to add another layer of fun to single player games. For example, the upcoming PS3 exclusive, Little Big Planet 2 is greatly enhanced with the use of PS Move controllers, as stated by just about everyone who’s had a go with the game! Another PS3 exclusive, Killzone 3 also utilises PS Move controllers to improve the game.

Now I’m no genius, but surely Sony wouldn’t let developers add PlayStation Move compatibility into their exclusive, fist-party games unless they actually thought that it would make the game(s) better, right?

Kevin Butler

I think you should get PS Move and so does Kevin Butler. KB is the man!

Then there’s the fact that PlayStation Move is fantastic for stupendously large families or groups of friends. I mean, what better way to start a gaming party that with a ridiculously fun game called ‘Start The Party’? – STP even has an unlockable trophy just for playing the game on Christmas day, making it a pretty great Christmas gift!

Oh, and did I mention that PlayStation Move is fun? Because it really is.

See, there’s a handful of good reasons why you should invest in PlayStation Move.

My work here is done.
