Lara Croft Goes Back to Basics with her New Look

New Lara Croft

Will this new game be a new high for Ms Croft?

The video game character every woman wants to be and the CGI rendered woman who every man wanted to be ‘with’ is back. Game Informer has got a 10 page world exclusive reveal of the Lara Croft Franchise’s makeover – the issue including it hits newsstands on Dec’ 11th – and this is a little taster of what the mag has to offer.

Obviously what you notice first is the fact that Lara looks completely different in the re-imagination of the game which is being considered as a ‘rebirth’ for the series, according to the game’s publisher ; Square Enix, which suggests that with Lara’s new more realistic look, the entire series will be revamped to reflect that.

Secondly, you’ll notice that Lara’s face is a little, well, banged up. Clearly life wasn’t been all fun and games in her beginning of a career of an ass-kicking adventurer and it must be getting difficult with a certain Mr. Drake stealing all of your jobs… Though my best guess is that Croft has been lucky to get out of a sticky situation alive, judging by that nasty shipwreck in the background.

There’s also the fact that she’s got a crossbow strapped to her back. Ran out of bullets did we Lara? Or maybe she’s going to be putting some animal foes ‘to sleep’.

and that

In this new adventure – simply titled Tomb Raider – a younger and inexperienced Lara Croft must endure both physical and emotional trauma to survive.

Ooh, sounds like we’ve found a contender for Nathan Drake’s throne!
