Song of the Week–Classic Guitar Hero

Metallica

You might call them the Godfathers of Rock, the pioneers of 80s metal or that piece of sh*t band whose guitar riffs you can’t stand. Yes, I understand that their roaring pieces of guitar fretwork and furious string plucking aren’t to everyone’s taste, but I couldn’t write another SOTW column without mentioning one of the greatest bands of all time – Metallica.

For some bizarre reason, the band didn’t feature in the Guitar Hero series until the third iteration of the game. Keen to make up for the tragic mistake of leaving out their music in the first two games, Activision graced Metallica with an entire game. Nothing says ‘music legends’ like being given the GH treatment.

The song I’ve picked of their’s to feature as this week’s ‘Song of the Week’ is “One”, the third single from their “…And Justice For All” album, which was the first song of theirs I heard (whilst playing Guitar Hero 3) and it’s also what earned them their first ever Top 40 number 1, so it’s a fitting choice.
