In a move that shocked me more than a roundhouse kick to the thorax from Chuck Norris, yesterday, it was announced that Activision have decided to shutdown the developer of the absolutely stellar racing sim Blur, Bizarre Creations.
Blur is truly amazing game that’s a lot of fun (even the multiplayer demo was fantastic!) and that sold quite well too but Bizarre’s most recent creation (yes, I relegated that pun to deepest depths of the bin after typing it) , James Bond : Blood Stone sold like a grain of sand in the desert and the poor sales of the game are believed to be the reason behind the developer’s untimely demise.
Here’s what Activision had to say
[Quote from an Official Activision press release]
We are exploring our options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business
This closure means that another tremendous blow has been dealt to the UK games industry ( Bizarre are based in Liverpool, England) though hopefully an intelligent publisher will step up to the plate and buy them because I’d quite like to play more games from Bizarre Creations.
