Two things that EA get consistently right : sports simulations and music. For the past 4 years they’ve been working hard to make the Rock Band franchise the best it can possibly be and that shows, with each edition of the game trumping Guitar Hero in quality. But why should all of that good tuneage be allocated to one game? Good question, it shouldn’t. Which is why they put together dozens of musical genres for an eclectic compilation of some of the greatest songs ever and they add them to their (already stellar) sports games. There was that one inexcusable time when they featured a Nickelback song in one of their NHL games but we’ll ignore that for the moment as they’ve gotten it right every other time.
This week’s SOTW is from one of the FIFA games, as I’m sure you’ve guessed, more specifically, FIFA 10, which is one of my favourite soundtracks of all time. The song is “Gold Guns Girls” by a band called Metric, a super group of Canadian indie rockers who infuse electronic elements into their music, which makes the usually tedious team picking task in FIFA a wonderfully delightful (and dance-y) experience.
