Still licking your wounds after the Rise of the Tomb Raider exclusivity announcement took everyone by surprise? Aren’t we all. It also saw plenty of nastiness sent Square Enix’s way, including ‘sell outs’, ‘money grabbing chumps!’ and various other insults used to describe longstanding business practices. Nonetheless, Square Enix surely can’t be bad eggs, right? As their new initiative wants to rob us of our free time right when we’ll need it most; to study, learn and make good use of far-too-expensive college tuition fees. The Square Enix Back to School sale does offer us dozens of cut-price games though, so you can find out more on the deals after the break.
Video games, saving the world? I know, madness!
It’s something that would have fearers and despisers of video games (also known as ‘da haterz’, to you and I), who regularly renounce the merits of our favourite form of media, running for the hills.
I mean ‘saving the world’ in a figurative sense – there’s little that Final Fantasy can do besides making the coiffed male beehive hairstyle popular again – but it could help to make a serious impact on how video games are seen by the rest of the world (i.e not as a geeky, pointless habit and instead as a respected form of media) which could in turn have some serious impacts on the economy and other important world saving stuff.
This is why I’m urging you to get involved and also why it’s featured as this week’s Song of the Week.
