It’s no secret that the sales of the Call of Duty franchise have been declining for quite some time. Activision and the three lead development teams on the series (Sledgehammer, Treyarch, and Infinity Ward) are constantly forced to find new and exciting things to prove that in fact, this new Call of Duty is not a reskinned clone of the game you played last year.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 uses something called the direct neural interface (DNI) to prove that it’s different from last year’s Advanced Warfare. Instead of exo suits, our various different powers and abilities will be hardwired into our bodies, letting us take part in more explosive gameplay and pull off more extravagant kills.
You can see this in action in the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 gameplay trailers after the break.
