Usually, when the media features disobedient robots, they’re all trying to wipe us out and/or strip us of our own free will. We saw it in I, Robot, we saw it in Wall-E and we saw it in Portal too. So cut ARID, the AI protagonist of The Fall, some slack then, as she’s only trying to help.
The premise of The Fall, the indie game from developer Over The Moon, is that she is part of a high-tech combat suit piloted by an actual human. But when that human is injured and is on the brink of death, she must guide him to safety and “protect him at all costs”. Though, how is ARID meant to do that within her set of rules protocols? And in a hostile environment, too? That’s what you’ll have to figure out when the game is released on PS4 and Xbox One next week.
