As the popular holiday tune goes – ‘Rockin’ around the Christmas tree with your plastic instruments!’ – because as everyone knows, Rock Band is the quintessential party game. Few games will ever be able to recreate the social slayage of playing Rock Band with a group of your closest pals (or your most elderly relatives) and although Harmonix have continued to dabble in the world of rhythm games with titles like (the quite good) A City Sleeps, the Rock Band series is still the shiniest jewel in their crown. Just as well then that Harmonix have slashed the prices on multiple Rock Band games and their downloadable track packs in time for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Full details on the sale below.
First things first – go and read our MAHOOSIVE Rock Band Blitz feature.
Okay, now that that’s out of the way, you’ll want to wave your devil horns hand gesture in the air, put on your skinniest jeans and search for that black hair dye that you haven’t seen since you were in your teens, as playing Rock Band Blitz will be the final stage in your transition to *gaming rock legend*.
No plastic peripherals, no struggle to find storage and perhaps most importantly, no awkward sitting on laps because the gaming instruments have taken up all of the seating room – Rock Band Blitz scraps all of that and brings button pressing music rhythm fun to the Xbox Live Arcade and PSN with a standalone Rock Band title that would be a perfect addition in an arcade or to a music lover’s video game collection.
That’s the premise of the game, but I suppose now you’ll be wanting to know which songs you’ll be playing through, good job that developer Harmonix have just revealed the Rock Band Blitz setlist then! You can read the setlist in full after the break.

What’s a better a music game than Rock Band? Nothing that’s what.
Sure, Guitar Hero has a stellar line up of songs (many of which make up our Song of the Week picks) but the undisputable top dog, in terms of gameplay, is the rock-so-hard-it’ll-blow-your-socks-off, Rock Band.
While many assumed that the Rock Band series would perhaps be dead in the water after poor sales of Rock Band 3 struck the series hard – in addition to the 50% revenue decrease in the music rhythm game genre and the fierce competition in the form of Guitar Hero – this meant that although Rock Band 3 was one of the most fun to play games (of any genre) out there, the series plateaued.
However, (!) Rock Band fans need not mourn any more as just yesterday, Harmonix announced another Rock Band game – Rock Band Blitz.
