The lack of diversity on the Mass Effect: Andromeda development team is partly to blame for the game’s failure. Former BioWare developer Manveer Heir, who has been an outspoken advocate for diversity in the games industry, recently revealed more about the game’s troubled development.

Blizzard officially confirms that Overwatch character Pharah has Native American heritage. There had been much speculation about the character’s ethnic background as well as the identity of her father (Pharah’s mother, Ana, is also a playable character).
The confirmation of Pharah’s heritage also comes after Blizzard was criticised for cultural appropriation over some Overwatch skins, including Pharah’s Raindancer and Thunderbird skins.
FIFA 18 The Journey includes a female protagonist, marking a small but significant step forward for the football series. The mode includes a playable female character in some segments of the mode, which tells the story of (male character) Alex Hunter’s rise to footballing glory.
EA first introduced playable female characters in FIFA 16, when international female teams made their video game debut.
Activision changes an implied sexual assault scene in the Australian version of Call of Duty: WW2. The publisher requested that the Classification Board re-rate the game after changing a scene that included a “reference to sexual violence”.
